You Have My Attention

Description

So worked on this one a lot today after I finished up the elephant from earlier. I had started the initial one like 3 days ago after an interaction I had been working on. I kept the image in my mind but I still can't do it justice.

I absolutely suck at drawing people. I used a model who was a bride initially and then made Her far more ominous. Gothic Victorian was the style I was going for here but it's not my 'normal' rainbows and glitter. I can actually step away from that, believe it or not. It's not all unicorns and friendship in my mind. I destroyed the hands while colouring this because initially it was a monochromatic piece that I decided to add color to... but then ...something got me thinking. Or some one.  I also have been striving to create more depth in my pieces as well. Not just a flat background but one that ripples and catches the eye.

The ravens are not from scratch but rather a brush that I played with made by flordelys-stock on deviantart. I did this piece quicker than I would have liked but I didn't want to lose that image in my mind before stepping out into the Graveyard. That voice...

I listen to everything and create in my head while listening to people talk. The world transforms into layers like the astral realms in my dreams and visions. Nothing is 2D, but many hidden depths. Charcoal rubbings on graveyard. Not crayons which added the texture. I wanted the eyes to be foreboding but not an empty abyss. I looked at the moon through the trees last night but it wasn't full enough for my liking but I loved how the trees encircled it like a vine. The sound of Otep and Pantera fusing in my mind and providing the shading.

When I was given the sweet, heavy weight in my hands last night of something sacred, I did not turn away in fear. I was given a choice and I always give my efforts my complete focus and resolve. I held it in my hands for a moment, closing my eyes and just feeling all that was within the vessel. Not anything more than just observing and feeling the electricity. Respectfully but diligently. I listened to the history of those passed and in my mind, they were like inky colours on water stained paper. All of these things went into Her. Even Her mouth and hands, just a hint of blood stain. Vengeful and all encompassing, sacred Dark Mother.

I can't do Her justice and I won't pretend to but 'attempt' The Morrigan is for a friend. I created this out of respect for our friendship and the recognition of some one who follows a Dark Goddess. I do not dare speak to Her directly but I do speak to another Goddess pretty regularly and stated my intent.

It's ironic because I have about 40 half-done images of Kali sitting on my hard drive (there are lots of WIPS sitting around from YEARS of trying different things and not being satisfied.) Seriously, there's one like 3/4 done and I almost deleted it out of frustration.

Anyway, thanks for looking and enjoy "You Have My Attention"
